Ths Notice is to be handed to anyone a Sheriff wishes to deputize. A deputy may be appointed for up to five years.
A Sheriff may also appoint a deputy for a limited time to help the Sheriff perform his/her duties, until the completion of the task. At that time, the deputy may be dismissed by the Sheriff.
Under Clause five of the Commonwealth of Australia Constitution Act 1901, all local and federal police, and court officials are bound to carry out the orders of a Sheriff, including but not limited to:
- arrest anyone the Sheriff directs
- help the Sheriff seize property on the orders of a common law court judgement
- transport prisoners from a court, or between correctional facilities
- trace missing persons
- track down and return escaped felons and bail jumpers
- any other acts a Sheriff orders to help him/her perform their duties
A Sheriff must hand anyone being deputized the following order and have the deputy and witnesses sign it before him/her. The Deputy must then take the Oath, administered by the Sheriff.

This Public Notice is issued to you as a lawful warrant by the Common law Court of Justice, placing you under the jurisdiction of the Court and Natural Justice, and deputizing you as its officer(s).
Upon your taking the appended Oath of Common Law Office, you are empowered to act as the lawful agents and protectors of the Court and its proceedings, and to serve and enforce its writs, warrants, summonses and court orders on any and all persons and corporations named by the Court.
If you choose not to take this Oath of Office, you are compelled and ordered by the Court and by Natural Law to refrain from interfering with the actions of other Officers so deputized and empowered to act for the Court. If you resist, disrupt or impede the actions of the Court or its Officers you can and will be charged with criminal assault and obstruction of justice.
